Most important in our mission is hospitality. We are here to offer space for your spiritual journey, and encourage you to pursue it through artistic expression. You may spend your days in contemplation. We offer housing and meals. Our staff is qualified to offer spiritual direction as well as art instruction.
When planning a personal retreat in the summer, which is a busy and rich time at the Guild, we may have space for you, but you may find you miss the community of being with others who are taking classes. It has happened that folks on personal retreat eventually drift into classes--the general free atmosphere of the Guild seems to encourage this--we just ask that you talk to the staff before joining a class in consideration of the instructors.
The availability of accommodations for a personal retreat during the non-summer season depends on what is already scheduled. If a room is available, you may come on retreat when another group is here and join the community of guests and staff for meals. When a group is not scheduled, we generally will not provide meals as our cook is off duty. You would have access to a refrigerator and microwave, however, to prepare your own food.
Depending on the timing and length of your stay, our staff may offer mini workshops in many media, including ceramics, printmaking, weaving, stained glass and mosaics. We seek to offer opportunities to relate art and faith, to find personal connection to the Divine through art. You will find good support on your journey. Tuition and fees depend on the length of the workshop and the medium.
